As an Archivist, Walter M. Welby collects, organizes, and preserves any and all documentation he can acquire of, and relating to, Japanese Sea Monsters.

If you are not familiar with Japanese monsters I encourage you to turn away now. The Ushi-oni (lit. "cow devil") is a malevolent sea monster with the head of a bull and the body of a giant spider or crab. It is most often encountered in the coastal waters of western Japan, particularly in Shimane prefecture, where it is feared for its vicious attacks on fishermen. Walter is especially intrigued by the accounts he has gathered and is sure they are not a myth. Unlike this silly Bakezōri. (Described as a wandering sandal with two arms and two legs, but only one eye.)
